Flexible Laryngoscopy Audit in Outpatient Department of a tertiary care hospital, Islamabad

Background: Flexible laryngoscopy is less operator/patient dependent diagnostic procedure with magnified field and well tolerated procedure. tolerable clear visualization of interior larynx. Aim: To audit the flexible laryngoscope in outpatient department our local setting. Methods: A retrospective survey was carried out Outpatient ENT Department Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital, Islamabad between June 2021 May 2022. Total 85 patients age range 10-80 years, history laryngopharyngeal symptoms preoperative evaluation thyroidectomy were selected. After getting detail naso-pharyngo-laryngoscopy findings documented analyzed. Under anesthesia, spray nose throat gargles. The passed through nasopharynx into laryngopharynx, assessing all structures. Data analyzed SPSS v 22. Results: mean 28.96±9.14 years. Among 49(57.64%) female 36(42.3%) male. population highest percentage 26(30.5%) 21-30 years old. laryngeal complaint hoarseness 38.8% indicated after according to other symptoms. According diagnosis made on laryngoscopy, vocal nodules 15.3% detected. tools pathologies, its availability cost effectiveness led limited access such sophisticated Conclusion: gives detailed larynx don’t leave examiner inconclusive about pathologies.
